More Than Three Decades in Print and Publication Production
Cliffe Enterprise has provided independent print management since 1991.
Over that time, our name has appeared in the print credits of magazines, journals, public-sector publications and specialist publications produced for organisations across the UK.
Many of those publications remain accessible today through publisher, organisation and public-sector archives. Together they provide a visible record of our involvement in print and publication production over more than two decades online — within a business history stretching back to 1991.
A History You Can Actually Follow
Rather than simply tell you how long we have worked in print, we have selected examples from our history that can still be traced through publisher and public-sector websites today.
1991 — Cliffe Enterprise Begins
Cliffe Enterprise began providing print-management services in 1991.
Printing technology, paper markets, publishing and distribution have changed enormously since then, but the principle behind our business has remained remarkably consistent: understand the requirement first, then select and manage an appropriate production solution.
1999 — A Long-Standing Client Relationship
Historic client testimony records our relationship with Leeds Castle Enterprises Limited as beginning in October 1999.
The work described included print management, material specification, cost control, stock control and distribution — an early example of the broader print-management approach that remains central to Cliffe Enterprise today.
2002–2018 — London Drinker
One of the earliest independently archived Cliffe print credits we have located online appears in a 2002 edition of London Drinker, the magazine produced by the London branches of the Campaign for Real Ale.
The publication identifies Cliffe Enterprise as its printer.
What makes the example particularly valuable to us is its longevity. Later archived editions continue to identify Cliffe Enterprise as printer, demonstrating a publishing relationship extending across many years.

2016 — My Merton
My Merton, the resident magazine of the London Borough of Merton, provides another independently archived example of Cliffe’s publication work.
The council’s Summer 2016 publication identifies the London Borough of Merton as publisher and Cliffe Enterprise Print Partnership as printer, with distribution separately credited.
Later editions continued to record Cliffe’s involvement with the publication.
2016 — LIFE in Salford
Cliffe’s publication work has also included magazines produced at substantial household scale.
The March 2016 edition of LIFE in Salford credits Cliffe Enterprise Print Partnership with printing and records distribution to more than 116,000 households.
Salford City Council maintains an online archive of the publication, including the 2016 editions.

2019 — BMC News
Our history also includes specialist membership publishing.
BMC News, the official journal of the British Milers’ Club, identifies Cliffe Enterprise Ltd as printer in archived editions.
It is one of a number of specialist publications that demonstrate the variety of audiences and organisations represented in Cliffe’s print history.
2024 — Persecuted and Forgotten?
Cliffe Enterprise is credited as printer of Aid to the Church in Need’s 2024 Persecuted and Forgotten? report.
The report examines the situation facing Christians in 18 countries and represents another very different specialist publishing requirement within Cliffe’s production history.

2025–2027 — Inside Swale
Our involvement in publication production continues today.
Inside Swale is Swale Borough Council’s residents’ magazine and is produced twice each year for households across the borough.
Swale Borough Council’s current contracts register identifies Cliffe Enterprise Limited as the supplier for print of Inside Swale, with the current contract running from January 2025 to January 2027.

The Technology Changes. The Principle Doesn’t.
Printing today is very different from printing in 1991.
Production technology has changed. Run lengths have changed. Paper and postage costs have become increasingly important. Digital printing has transformed shorter-run production, while modern sheetfed and web-offset presses have become increasingly automated and efficient.
That is precisely why Cliffe Enterprise remains independent of any single printing plant or press technology.
We don’t begin with a machine and try to make the publication fit it.
We begin with the publication.
Quantity, format, pagination, paper, binding, finishing, schedule, mailing and distribution requirements help determine the production route and manufacturing partner we consider appropriate.
That approach has allowed Cliffe Enterprise to adapt as the industry has changed while continuing to provide publishers and organisations with a single point of contact for their print requirements.
Magazine Printing Company Today
Magazine Printing Company is Cliffe Enterprise Ltd’s specialist magazine printing, mailing and distribution operation.
It brings the experience developed across more than three decades of print management into a service focused specifically on the requirements of magazine publishers.
From shorter-run digital publications through to high-volume offset production, our role remains the same: understand the publication, determine an appropriate production route and manage the process through printing, finishing, mailing, postage and distribution where required.
The presses may have changed since 1991. Our job hasn’t: find the right way to produce the publication.
